july 24th 2013

During July we went to a cabin in Park city, and I'm just getting some pictures from that and from Haley's fairwell. she's now been in the MTC for almost 2 weeks! we will miss her! above is our little family at the cabin

for July 24th we went down a few days early, brought some friends, and took a mini-vacation in Moab. the first day we spent 4-wheeling all day, then out to eat in Moab. We also had a motel that night-so Jeter was left with grandma t-again! this was the first night we've left him without either of us. I went to girls camp, but he was with Chris at night. I wasn't too sad since it wasn't very long to be away. the next morning we got up and went hiking at arches. now when I say hiking I'm using that because I don't have another word to use. me and the girl from the other couple we brought are pregnant, it was over 100 degrees, and I am still morning sick every morning. So it was a very slow process to get to arches, and even slower on any of the short hikes we did. But the good thing about arches is you can see just about all the park from your car and little look out points. So we did the drive-by tour, stopping to hike Delicate arch, which is the main arch everyone goes to.

this is us, with delicate arch in the background. we did the 1 mile hike from the look out, not even the real delicate arch hike which is more like 3 miles...like I said what were we thinking brining 2 pregnant ladies to Moab in the middle of July?
a close-up on delicate arch, we'll pretend I got that close to it... after arches we had a few hours to kill til our next activity so the boys wanted to go golfing (they golfed 52 holes in less than 3 days) so we did alot of golfing! We went to the moab golf course and were there from like 2-5-which was the HOTTEST time of the day. Everytime the cart stopped me, and the other pregnant lady, went and laid in the grass in the shade. we literally went from shade tree to shade tree, we were dying of heat...which made me more nauseous...like I said, what were we thinking bringing 2 pregnant ladies to moab in july? then the next part I was the most excited for, which was a sunset jetboat ride up the colorado river, with a yummy dinner afterwards.
this is us on the jetboat, and below is a picture of the river we went up.

we also saw indian ruins and more arches on the jetboat ride. it was about 2 hours, and lots of fun. The dinner afterwards was amazingly good too!

so while we were enjoying our mini-vacation Jeter had a little accident at grandma's house. He fell out of grandpa's truck, and luckily his face broke his fall. no, really, a back eye isn't the worse thing he could of gotten, like a head injury, or a broken arm or limb, so we were glad this is all he got. But poor kid couldn't open his eye, this is Saturday, the day after it happened, at the 24th parade. then after the parade we go to the park were everyone who ever went to Monticello comes, and they all looked at me like I beat my child...so it was good timing I guess.
Jeter and chris at the parade
me, katie, and our kids at the parade
jeter's obsessed with anything that goes, including mater, so he was very excited that mater was there. We also went to two family BBQ's, and ate lunch at the park, and watched the fireworks, and squeezed in 18-holes of golf. So it was a really good mini-vacation, and 24th festivities!
