So this Saturday morning my alarm went off at 5:20 AM and I actually got out of bed not angry, or upset, or tired, I was excited/nervous. I got to run my first half marathon! I have been training for it for months, so I was glad it was finally here. First off I have to say I have awsome parents, they drove 7 hours the night before, then got up at 5:30 and drove me and my sister into downtown SLC to the start line. They are awesome and always so supportive! and my sister's awesome too, cause she's been doing babysitting swaps so we could both run, and she got up early with us too, even though her race didn't start til 9, mine started at 7. So anyways WE got there in the dark and cold, and I took off with the marathon and half marathon runners. I felt good-there was lots of STEEP hills, so I had to walk, even though I didn't want to or need to-but the good thing was is everyone else had to walk up the hills too. So anyways, it was a slow course, but it was good to finish and have all the training pay off! I might do another one when the weathers' a little warmer!

I didn't bring my camera at all, so I only have a few pictures that my dad emailed me, but Chris and Jeter came out to watch me cross the finish line too-so I had alot of support. I ran for over 2 hours (we'll just say that, so that those who run super fast won't laugh at my time!) and I felt pretty good at the end, so I even got to pass quite a few other half marathoner's the last 3 miles. Anyways I felt good, it's good to have that goal crossed off my list!

We also went to the pumpkin walk with kids and grandparents, where there are fun booths and trick or treating and a hay ride, and wonderful cinnamon roasted almonds, other october fun things. but I didn't bring my camera, so I stole the picture above from my sister's blog. This was the grandparents and kids by the horse that took us on the hay ride. grandpa also treated us to some wingers (oh how I miss working there, ha ha) and some coldstone ice cream. (pictured above) So needless to say Jeter was way spoiled. Thanks to my awesome family who's so supportive!
these picture were taken after the race, me and Kate finished about the same time, and her race started 2 hours later than mine, ha-I can't decide how I feel about that.
Impressive nik! We had a treadmill before we moved from Portland and the most I ever ran at one time was six miles, and it probably took me about as long as your half marathon! But then I got grandma knees and have to stick to the elliptical :( keep it up skinny mamma!
